About Italy


Studio Arcobaleno nasce nel 1984 come gruppo di lavoro composto da operatori scolastici con lo scopo di sperimentare e divulgare materiali didattici innovativi in ambito scolastico, in una visione di vita che si fonda sul valore della persona nella prospettiva di una società migliore.

Lo sfondo sociale, ha sempre contraddistinto l'impegno dello Studio Arcobaleno che ha dedicato ogni sforzo e ogni energia in diversi ambiti al fine di:
valorizzare la lettura, fondamento essenziale per la formazione del sé e la conquista della conoscenza, per lo sviluppo della creatività, per la reinvenzione del proprio tempo e del proprio spazio vitale;
sostenere la diffusione della lingua e della cultura italiana nel mondo, attraverso materiali didattici adeguati
la formazione degli insegnanti
la promozione di viaggi educativi e culturali in Italia;

Culture


From antiquity until the 16th century, Italy was at the center of Western culture, fulcrum or origin of the Etruscan civilization, Ancient Rome, Humanism and the Renaissance. Italy is home to the greatest number of Unesco World Heritage Sites and to half the world's great art treasures.

School visits


  Studio Arcobaleno Tour organizes visits to one or more Italian schools. The schedule for the day includes participation in one or more lessons in various subjects as well as guided conversations among students.

AGREEMENT


Conditions for participation in a Studio Arcobaleno Tour trip are contingent upon:

Receipt of signed Registration form and Agreement letter (minors must have authorized signature of parent or guardian) which must be sent either directly to SAT or given to Group leader.
Receipt of completed  online forms for airline and land reservations for each participant with use of individual username and password forwarded by SAT.
Payments made on due dates, and as specified in partial payments or lump sum.

Each participant can:
•follow the trip itinerary on line
•see payments made towards each participants’ account.

About USA


Con una superficie di oltre 9 milioni di km² e con più di 300 milioni di abitanti, gli Stati Uniti sono il quarto Paese più esteso al mondo, e il terzo più popolato. Nel corso del XIX secolo gli Stati Uniti acquisirono nuovi territori da Francia, Spagna, Regno Unito, Messico e Impero russo, annettendo la Repubblica del Texas e la Repubblica di Hawaii. Le controversie tra il Sud agrario e il Nord industriale sull'affermazione dei diritti e l'espansione dell'istituzione della schiavitù provocarono la guerra di secessione americana del 1861. Il Nord impedì una scissione del paese e portò la fine della schiavitù legale negli Stati Uniti. La guerra ispano-americana e la prima guerra mondiale confermarono lo status di potenza militare. Nel 1945 gli Stati Uniti emersero dalla seconda guerra mondiale come il primo paese dotato di armi nucleari, membro permanente del Consiglio di Sicurezza dell'ONU, e un membro fondatore della NATO. La fine della guerra fredda, e il conseguente crollo dell'Unione Sovietica, lasciarono gli Stati Uniti come unica superpotenza. Ad oggi gli accademici stanno discutendo se gli Usa stiano perdendo od abbiano già perso lo status di superpotenza in un mondo multipolare.

Itineraries are customized to our customers’ needs and vary based on course of study, time of year, and/or budget. All are life altering experiences for youth and adults alike.

Each trip is an opportunity for soul searching where all that is encountered stirs a further desire to learn and grow.


Each trip organized by Studio Arcobaleno Tour is unique and specific to each partipant and group. The utmost attention is given to every minor detail.

For this reason, tours are limited to a maximum of 30-40 trips per year, each different from the next.  All are rich in activities and unique experiences such as visits to schools and artisan shops, to gastronomic havens, to places of culture, folklore and local fare, to exhibitions and conferences.

Folklore and cuisine


Italian Folklore: legends, music, oral history, proverbs, jokes, popular beliefs, fairy tales, tall tales and customs that are the tradition of the Italian culture. Italian Cuisine is widely regarded as amongst the most popular in the world, and is mainly made up of traditional dishes, meals and dessert; also Italy produces the highest level of wine

Italian lessons


During the Italian educultural tours, Studio Arcobaleno Tour organizes Italian classes. These can either be classroom-based or language immersion programs for the entire group. 
The lessons center on communication and vocabulary development in an active and participatory setting.
Lessons objectives are developed in conjuction with the trip itinerary.
Small group lessons
►The teacher resides in the city where classes will take place.
►Classes are approximately one and a half hours in duration.
►Classes usually take place in the early morning prior to the day’s activities or during free periods throughout the day.
►Lesson topics are aimed at the language acquisition necessary for essential communication in Italian.
Worksheets will be provided.



Language and Culture Immersion Lessons

►The instructor accompanies the group as a linguistic and cultural mediator using the day’s activities as the basis for lessons.
►Both Italian and English are used to facilitate cultural and linguistic awareness.
►The instructor’s constant presence pro-vides direct contact for both languages in informal settings as well as serving as linguistic immersion.
►Instructors encourage participation in cultural events.

With a Studio Arcobaleno Tour,
you will have the opportunity to visit a typical artisanal craft workshop (Guild) dating  to Medieval times. 
You will see “Masters” at their craft and be able to follow the creative process for glass, leather, paper, ceramic, wrought iron, laces, coral, furniture, and footwear.

The following suggestions are made to guarantee you an excellent outcome for all participants in the group, and have them return with increased knowledge of Italian culture.

Direct experience activities


Studio Arcobaleno Tour organizes group visits to various “hands on” locations where participants will have the opportunity to participate in activities centered around art, artisanal crafts, and gastronomy such as: 

►Ceramics (plates, small vases, various objects).
►Costume jewelry crafting with various media (stones, pearls, silver thread, fabric).
►Decoupage and arts and crafts with various media (wood, fabric, iron threads.).



►Cooking class under careful direction of an expert chef (pizza, bread, pasta).
►Drawing and painting on various surfaces (canvas, paper, rocks, glass).
►Sculpture with diverse media (clay, papier mache, wood).


TOUR LEADER


From the moment of arrival in Italy, each of our groups is entrusted to a Tour Leader who will escort, guide, service, and assist  the group till its boarding point for return home. The Tour Leader is on call 24/24 to respond to any requests or needs.

Tasting


 

 

A very important part of any country’s culture is its gastronomy, and our groups are invited to savor Italy’s traditional flavors  at local and large scale export production sites for special tasting events. You will assist in the creative process and then taste the final product.  
Your palate will experience the delicacy of first pressed oil, new and aged wine, freshly shaped mozzarella, parmiggiano, hot baked bread, luxurious chocolate and all the typical products that make Italian cooking world renowned.

GROUP LEADER


Your role as group leader is paramount to the promotion, organization, and outcome of group travel.
You know your groups’ needs, wants, expectations, and the trip’s relevence to your Italian class curriculum or to other classes. 

Your choice of itinerary will therefore determine the success of the trip for each participant.
The more information  known about expectations, the better the outcome, both in organization and during the trip itself.

SAT makes available to you a special support staff which is far superior to all other companies’ in its preparation and  educational training and knowledge.  
The birth of  our company is in fact, a direct result of our experience in education, and administration and training of educators  throughout the world. Venturing into educational trip planning only sustains our goal of educating and diffusion of Italian language and culture.

Your knowledge and training plays a major role in the trip process and your assistance will be invaluable in:
• Keeping  group morale positive, motivated and interested during wait times
• helping create an unforgettable experience
• working in tandem with Tour Leader to achieve a successful trip

Tourism


Italy is a country that offers more touring options than any other country, making it a destination of choice for travelers. 
Along with the tours of art, architecture, and museums, why not glide through Venice’s canals on a gondola, or view Florence’s panorama by climbing to the top of its Bell Tower? Experience a bird’s eye view of the Glory of Rome from the top of St. Peter’s  Dome, or, see  the Madonnina  of Milano close-up, by walking along the Duomo spires. Why not climb the leaning Tower in Pisa? Prefer to see a quieter side of Italy? Take a bicycle ride along serene, unexplored paths in Italy’s breath taking countryside.



OUR LAND SERVICES


Studio Arcobaleno Tour employs the utmost care in choosing land accomodations, so to offer its participants the highest level of service, and to guarantee a smooth and problem free stay and tour.

Any unforseen problems that may arise will be effeciently and promptly addressed and resolved by the Tour Leader in collaboration with the Group Leader.

Special events


Studio Arcobaleno Tour facilitates the purchase of tickets forall types of cultural events and arranges for transportation: cinema, theater, opera, symphonies, and concerts. 
The pricing for Shows is quoted at a median rate of $100, but actual price will be quoted to those participants upon actual registration for the event, and once obtained from ticketing venues.

City tour - extra




Studio Arcobaleno Tours incorporates walking tours accompanied by a specialized English local guide to familiarize travelers with cities visited. 
More intensive guided tours are available (at a supplementary cost) for anyone wishing to delve further into areas of art, history, and natural surroundings.




 

 

Boat tour


The Italian peninsula offers 5,000 miles (8,000km) of coastline, dotted with numerous colorful towns from north to south, east to west. 

Studio Arcobaleno Tour offers boat excursions which permit travelers the unique experience of a view from the sea.

See Italy as Ulysees may have seen it on his voyage. Follow the breathtaking coastline which alternates from rocky to stretches of sandy beaches, to hidden grottoes, and invites you to take a dip in its crystal waters. You too, like Italy’s numerous conquering people, will be compelled to stay, or at least to return.


 

Museums - extra


Studio Arcobaleno Tour facilitates the purchase of entrance tickets to museums and monuments in all Italian cities. 
Along with museum visits listed in each Studio Arcobaleno Tour, participants may access all additional Italian museums listed under “Optionals” for each city (at a supplementary cost). Our goal is to present all Italy’s cultural aspects, and additional tours are offered to satisfy all interests that may not be met in the basic tour.



 

Conferences and congresses




Studio Arcobaleno Tour plans conferences
related to personalized topics of interest for groups of teachers such as:
- the Italian school system
- art and/or literature. 
The sessions feature experts in each field.




 

Full day trip


Studio Arcobaleno Tour also offers full-day excursions to surrounding cities within a 150km radius of your lodging location.
Choose and reserve these excursions under the heading, FULL DAY TRIP listed under each city. The 150 km distance restriction still affords plenty of time to reach the city, tour its sights, and be back at the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.



The option of returning to your hotel after dinner is also available, but is contingent on the composition of the group and its interests.
The full day excursion is also contingent upon total group reguest, i.e. all group participants must register for the full day excursion.





A private coach is used for transportation, unless the terrain requires a more rugged vehicle, or tour specifies other means. Some tours are by boat, or train (please see options listed under Cinque Terre, for example), and others offer various transportation modes (see excursion to the Po Delta, which includes both bus and bicycles).
